After massive backlash, Congress leader Shivraj Patil clarified his statement on jihad. Clarifying his remark he said, ‘it is you who is calling it jihad. Would you call Krishna’s lessons to Arjun, Jihad? No, that is what I said.’ He further said, ‘In Hindu dharma, if you kill anyone who does something right, it’s called jihad. If you kill Mahatma Gandhi, it is Jihad. The act of killing him is Jihad.’ Former Lok Sabha speaker and Union Home Minister Patil landed into controversy after he said that Lord Krishan taught lessons of Jihad to Arjun in part of Mahabharat. He made this remark at the launch of Congress veteran and former Union minister Mohsina Kidwai’s biography.
