Apple Watch may get ‘Mind’ app, focus on mental health – Times of India

One of Apple’s most important event — WWDC — will get underway tonight. The annual developer conference is where the Cupertino-based tech giant gives users and developers a glimpse into software updates coming to its devices. While there have been quite a few rumours about iOS 15, little has been known about what to expect from watchOS 8. However, several online reports have suggested that a new Mind app could come with watchOS 8.
A developer took to Twitter to point out a big hint about the Mind app. Khaos Tian, a developer, posted a screenshot of the App Store manifest, where “com.apple.Mind” is mentioned. This could be a new addition to watchOS as Apple doesn’t have any app that goes by the same name. As the name suggests, the app could focus on mental health of users.
Currently, Apple doesn’t have a specific app that focuses on mental health. There’s a Breathe app which reminds users to focus on breathing but not a specific app that is mental health related. It will be interesting to see if the Mind app does arrive then what kind of functionalities it will have. Mental health is an area that so far has been rather untouched when it comes to smartwatches and fitness bands. Apple could take step in that direction tonight when it unveils watchOS 8 at WWDC 2021.
Speaking of WWDC, the event starts tonight at 10.30 pm (IST) and will be an online affair. Apple is expected to unveil new OS updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac devices and Apple Watch. It is rumoured that Apple could showcase two new models of the MacBook Pro. As with most Apple-related rumours — including the Mind app — we will have to wait for the company to make an official announcement.
