Commenting on the contentious Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on January 23 said that people of the state, including himself, wants to remove the act but it should be done with the mutual consent of the Centre as national security remains a top priority for them. Speaking to ANI, CM Biren Singh said, “We the people of Manipur want to remove it (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) but before lifting it We the people of Manipur want to remove it (Armed Forces Special Powers Act. National security is a priority.”
