The Congress will hold elections to elect a new party chief in September 2022. This was decided in the CWC meeting held on October 16 that was called to quell growing disquiet in the party over what dissenters call is the perceived lack of leadership. However, at the meeting, Sonia Gandhi sent out a stern message to G23 dissenters, rejecting their argument that there was void in decision making as there was no full time president of the party. Sonia said she was a full time, hands-on party president.
