Discord community servers will now include forum channels – Times of India

Discord community server owners will now be able to see all the topics that people are discussing on their server before jumping into the conversation. The company has now added a new feature to its community servers that will allow the owners (of that particular server) to engage in an existing discussion or to start a new one without having to worry about breaking up or getting in the way of other ongoing conversations.
This new feature is called forum channels that will offer Discord users to create “dedicated spaces for each new topic of discussion.” An official blog post by the company has confirmed the arrival of the feature on the instant messaging platform that is designed especially for gamers.
Discord forum channels: Availability
The Discord forum channels feature will be available to all the users that run community servers. This feature will allow these users to add multiple new forum channels depending on their requirements.
How will this feature work
As per the blog, all the discussions that will be done in these forum channels will be stored in posts. The company explains that storing these discussions will help users who use community servers to easily jump in on an existing conversation or even start a new one without being concerned about the message getting buried below the other chats.
How to enable this new feature
Users who want to enable this new feature and set up a new forum need to open the channel list on their Discord server and hover over the “channel category” option. By doing this, users will be able to see a tiny ‘+’ icon and on clicking it users will find the option to “Create Channel”.
Here, users need to select the “Forum” option from the menu and have to give the channel a name. Finally, they need to click on the “Create Channel” option to get started.
