honor of kings: The first mobile game ever to earn $10 billion in revenue is ‘Honor of Kings’ – Times of India

Tencent and TiMi Studios’ Honor of Kings has become the first mobile game ever to reach the $10 billion mark in total player revenue, as per a report by mobile app intelligence firm Sensor Tower.
Since it is a game made by a Chinese company and available by the name of ‘Honor of Kings’ in China only, not many outside China may have heard about the game. Outside China, the game is known as ‘Arena of Valor’. Presence outside China also gives the game more market space to earn from.
Still, going by the number of people in China and other parts of the world who invest their time and money in MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) games, the revenue generated by Honor of Kings does not seem like a feat a game of its popularity couldn’t have achieved, especially in the six years of its existence.
It is one of the highest-grossing mobile games in the world. Honor of Kings had earlier got the top spot in the ‘top 5 most-revenue generating games on the iPhones for the period of January 1, 2021 to March 30, 2021’ list by Sensor Tower. The game grossed a total of $717 million during the period, making it the highest-grossing game on the App Store. The other four games on that list included (in that order): PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact, Roblox and Three Kingdoms Tactics.
Honor of Kings is developed by TiMi Studios and published by Tencent Games for Android and iOS and runs on the Unity Engine. The concept of the game is simple, you will choose a hero and then keep earning experience and gold through victories in fights against your opponents. The more experience your hero gets, the more powerful he or she can become by unlocking or improving more of their abilities.. With the others in your team, you have to knock down all the turrets of the enemies and then destroy the core building of the main base of the opponents.
