Ladakh’s sports fans are celebrating after the Union Territory received its first well-maintained open synthetic track and Astro-turf football stadium as part of the Khelo India programme, a Government of India initiative to promote sports culture in India. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju laid the foundation stone of the project on September 2020.“Before this, we had to run on roads. Now, we’re witnessing improvement because we can now measure distance and speed easily,” said Tsering Stobgyas.
