Maritime conclave: Railways plan to attract customers discussed – Times of India

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Waltair Division Railway Manager (DRM) Anup Kumar Satpathy spoke on Hinterland connectivity in which the railways plan for the future requirements to attract customers.
On the concluding day of the Maritime Conclave organized by Vizag Port Authority here on Thursday, the DRM said that the incentive schemes available for Owning Wagons and sidings and how Gati Shakti is helping railways the reduction in cost towards connectivity and maintenance.
A total of 13 topics were deliberated in the two-day conference. David Raja, Logistics Convener of CII spoke on India as a Transshipment Hub: Trends and future outlook. Raja spoke on the topics such as MSME’s contribution to GDP, how online logistics are helping MSMEs, how to make Cabotage Law more attractive, and Converting Road Cargo into Coastal Shipping.
Jeevan, President of Vizag Container Lines Associations Jeevan spoke on the latest developments happening in the field of container handling in and around Vizag and the country at large, and the sustenance of the port depends on having captive cargo.
The CEO of Nasscom Sanjeev Malhotra Spoke on emerging technologies, NASSCOM Center of Excellence, 5000 startups in providing services to the Maritime and port industry, use of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
Satish, CEO, VGCB, Hemant Khatri, CMD Hindustan Shipyard Ltd, Azhar Shams, IRTS, ED, CONCOR, Bharat Ishwar Achanta, President, Federation of Association of Stevedores and others spoke on various issues.
