Nawazuddin Siddiqui bags nomination at the International Emmy Awards 2021, says achieving superstardom or buying a house is not important to him | Hindi Movie News – Bollywood – Times of India

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood. Over the years, he has proved his mettle as an actor by doing so many different kinds of roles, both big and minor. He is one actor who has compelled filmmakers to cast unconventional heroes and paved the path for many that came after him. Most recently, he achieved a mammoth feat by bagging a nomination for India as part of the 2021 International Emmy Awards. Announcing the wonderful news, he tweeted, ‘Wow !!!!#SeriousMen has got me a nomination for the prestigious #InternationalEmmyAwards in the Best Actor category. Congratulations Team.’ Before this, he had bagged a nomination for the Kim Jiseok Award at the Busan International Film festival for his first English feature film, ‘No Land’s Man’. Speaking about the recognition, Nawazuddin said in an interview and I quote, ‘Much like the boom in Iranian films that happened a few years ago, Korean cinema is at the top of their game right now. They are churning out some of the best films like Minari (2020). I’m happy that my film is going to Busan, a hub for Korean films.’ The film is competing with Aparna Sen’s directorial, ‘The Rapist’, which, incidentally is a role he was offered earlier. He further added, ‘I was approached for The Rapist but I couldn’t do it because of prior commitments. I hope either one of us wins. Aparna Sen is a wonderful director and I would like to congratulate her and her team.’ But for Siddiqui, receiving a nomination or being famous isn’t the benchmark for success. He continued, ‘Doing an English feature film isn’t the benchmark of success for me. Some people think that buying a house is synonymous to success and for some, getting a break in the industry is success. For others, achieving superstardom amounts to success.’ He concluded, ‘If I’m able to project a certain emotion in the way I wanted it to in a particular scene, that’s becomes important.’
