PE-VC funding drops for third quarter in row – Times of India

CHENNAI: Private equity-venture capital (PE-VC) investments declined for the third straight quarter in April-June. PE-VC funding was $11. 3 billion across 315 deals in the June quarter, registering a 25% decrease compared to the same period of 2021, according to data from Venture Intelligence.
Investment value was also down almost 30% compared to the previous quarter, which saw $16 billion being invested across 390 deals. The fall in investments was driven by a decline in late-stage investments even as growth-stage investors are in a wait-and watch mode. Early stage investments continue to remain robust, helping the deal count to hold steady even as value of investment falls.
The June quarter saw the minting of four new unicorns compared to 11 in the same quarter last year and 14 in the immediate previous quarter.
