Punjab CM Mann’s 1st decision: Govt to recruit 25,000 | India News – Times of India

CHANDIGARH: Punjab’s new cabinet, led by chief minister Bhagwant Mann, took its first decision on Saturday – undertaking recruitments for 25,000 government jobs in the state. Of these, 10,000 jobs will be for various positions in Punjab police while the remaining will be in other government departments, boards and corporations of the state government.
After the cabinet meeting, Mann said, “The posts will be filled purely on merit, as per degrees, with no partiality, influence or bribes. We promised to check unemployment and stop migration of youth by creating jobs. It is the first decision of the AAP government soon after getting the authority of a ‘green pen’. The process of advertisement and notification of these jobs would be initiated within a month. The AAP government will fulfil the party’s other ‘guarantees’ soon.”
An official spokesperson said the decision was aimed at opening new vistas of employment for the youth by providing them jobs in the government sector through a transparent and merit-based mechanism.
Mann also tweeted, “Chaired the first cabinet meeting. The Punjab cabinet has approved notification of 25,000 job vacancies within one month. As we promised before the election, job opportunities for Punjab’s youth will be the topmost priority of the AAP government (sic).”
The cabinet also cleared supplementary demands for grants for 2021-22 to be presented in ensuing Vidhan Sabha Session. Similarly, the Cabinet gave its go-ahead to the presentation of Statement of Estimated Expenditure (Vote on Account) from April 1, 2022, to June 30, 2022, of Punjab for 2022-23, mandated to be presented in state assembly in the ensuing Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
