Sushant Singh Rajput case: After Rhea Chakraborty, court orders de-freezing of accounts of two more accused in drugs case – Times of India

Last year, court had allowed de-freezing of Rhea Chakraborty’s bank accounts, who was named in a drugs case which emerged during the probe into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. And now, the court has ordered de-freezing of accounts of two other accused in the same case. Jai Madhok and Zaid Vilatra filed a plea before the special court stating that their accounts were seized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

Madhok had reportedly stated in his plea that he was informed by the bank that his transactions will be restricted and that they investigating officer had not informed a magistrate. Additional Sessions Judge D B Mane passed the order to de-freeze the account, while stating that in absence of such report, the said act of the investigating officer is held to be illegal. The NCB opposed the plea stating that its investigation is still on.

Rhea Chakraborty had also filed a plea to access her bank accounts, which were frozen during the probe in the case filed last year after Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise. In her plea to the special NDPS court, Rhea said she supported her lifestyle and her brother with the money from the bank accounts, and freezing the accounts over the last 10 months has caused her prejudice. Imposing conditions, the special NDPS court said Rhea is to give a written undertaking supported by an affidavit that when required, during the pendency and conclusion of the trial, she will make available the balance amount, as shown in the accounts.
