tim cook: Why Apple CEO Tim Cook has donated $100,000 to his high school band – Times of India

For many of us, no matter which station we reach in life, the school or college we attended is a cherished part, a nostalgic treat to look back and the place where we got plenty of life’s learnings from. It seems like Apple CEO Tim Cook has fond memories of the high school years he spent at Robertsdale High School, Alabama, which was noticed when he donated a bit of money for the school band. He made a donation of $100,000 (approx. Rs 77,64,950) to his high school band so that the band members could purchase new instruments, as per a report by Alabama news outlet Al.com.
The hefty sum was reportedly used by the Baldwin county public School system to purchase 28 new instruments for students. The instruments include flutes, horns, tubas, etc. The Apple CEO graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1978. You would want to know why he donated to the band specifically? Probably because the Apple CEO has a strong connection as he used to play the trombone in the years he attended there.
But the Baldwin County School District is in need of more (actually $140,000 in total) a part of which has been majorly covered by the Apple CEO. It is still fundraising for the remaining $40,000 to help the program, though the school is reportedly grateful for the generous contribution from its alumni.
This is not the first time the Apple CEO has done something to support his high school. Cook announced a scholarship program for the students at Robertsdale High School last year.
