Indian American tech entrepreneur Dr Romesh Wadhwani, who was awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India for 2020, received his award from India’s consul general in San Francisco on Wednesday, according to a release by the foundation run by him.
Besides being a successful entrepreneur, Wadhwani has led several social and philanthropic initiatives such as the national entrepreneurship network, startup and small business initiative and global innovation Network.
On account of travel restrictions because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr Wadhwani couldn’t come to New Delhi to receive the award from the President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Instead, he had requested the government that his award be presented to him through the consulate general in San Francisco.
Consul general T V Nagendra Prasad said he was honoured to present the award, on behalf of the Indian government, to Dr Wadhwani who has established himself as a successful entrepreneur and impactful philanthropist.
