WhatsApp users may soon be able to use different wallpapers in different chats – Times of India

WhatsApp allows its users to customise their chat wallpapers and select any picture they want, but it does not offer the option for different chats to have different wallpapers. However, it seems that the company is set to change that. As per a latest report by WABetaInfo, the instant messaging platform has been found with traces in its latest iOS beta app version to support this functionality.
The report provides a screenshot that suggests that users will soon be able to select a different wallpaper when they switch the system theme. “Choose separate wallpapers for Light and Dark modes,” reads the screenshot.
Not only that, users may also get the option to adjust the brightness of their wallpaper, claims the report. This feature is said to be available under the ‘Chat Info’ section for each chat. “To set different wallpapers for different chats, open Personalisation inside Chat Info,” adds the report.
The support for multiple wallpapers feature is under development as of now and therefore will appear for everyone in a future update.
This update for the beta version of WhatsApp also comes with improvements for Security Code Notifications, suggests the report.
“WhatsApp is updating their localisations about end-to-end encryption, including status updates and the same change was introduced in Security Settings,” said the report by WABetaInfo.
To recall, in February when WhatsApp had just started rolling out dark mode, it was reported that the app is expected to come with six new wallpaper colour options, which were all in accordance to the dark theme of the app and reflect dark tones of Purple, Maroon, Brown, Blue and Olive. However, when the dark mode was publicly rolled out, these wallpapers weren’t made available. It remains to be seen if that happens now with the rollout of custom chat wallpaper.
