The trailer of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan leaves us with extremely mixed feelings. It is as if Salman Khan chose the worst moments from the full-length feature of nearly three hours just to let us know that it (the prospects of the film) can only get better from here.
At the trailer-launch Salman joked (one hopes he was joking), “Agar yeh picture nahi chali toh poora bill mere pe fatega, and he (the director Farhad Samji) will say, ‘Yehi hai woh aadmi jiski vajeh se picture nahin chali. Original script abhi bhi mere paas hai (if the film doesn’t work, he will say that it’s my fault. I still have the original script with me).”

Salman was apparently referring back to the genesis of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The film is based on the 2014 Tamil blockbuster Veeram with star Ajith. But Veeram was at one time being remade in Hindi as Bachchan Pandey. Bizarrely, director Farhad Samji decided to change the remake plans. Instead of Veeram, Bachchan Pandey became a remake of another Tamil hit Jigarthanda while Veeram was offered to Salman Khan. It eventually became Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.
Let’s hope it proves more successful than Bachchan Pandey. In the trailer Salman Khan and his co-star Pooja Hegde look as well-matched as Rupert Murdoch and his latest fiancée.
