Aamir Khan mourns the demise of his ‘Secret Superstar’ co-star Farrukh Jaffar: Her sense of humour will always keep us smiling – Times of India

Veteran actress Farrukh Jaffar, who was best known for her stellar performance in the films ‘Swades‘, ‘Peepli Live’, ‘Sultan’ and ‘Secret Superstar’ died at the age of 88 on Friday (October 15), in Lucknow.

According to reports, Farrukh Jaffar passed away at her residence in Lucknow, after suffering from a brain stroke on Friday, (October 15) evening.

Actor Aamir Khan, who had shared screen space with her in ‘Secret Superstar’ took to his Instagram handle to mourn the demise of the veteran actress.

Sharing a picture of Farrukh Jaffar, Aamir Khan wrote, “Her infectious energy, passion, liveliness and sense of humour will always keep us smiling. RIP Farukh Jaffer Ji”

Jaffer, who was one of the first radio announcers of Vividh Bharti Lucknow in 1963, began her on-screen journey with 1981 classic ‘Umrao Jaan’, in which she played Rekha’s mother.

Her elder daughter Mehru Jaffar said her mother was unwell and was admitted to Sahara Hospital earlier this month.

“She was admitted to the hospital on October 4 due to breathlessness. She was not well. Her lungs were unable to take the oxygen that had been given to her. She passed away in the evening at around 6 pm,” Mehru told PTI.
