Adipurush: FIR filed against producer, director Om Raut over new poster of Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer – Times of India

A complaint has been filed against the producer of Adipurush, director Om Raut and the cast of the film over the film’s new poster for hurting the religious sentiments of people by inappropriately displaying the character of Hindi mythology.
Sanjay Dinanath Tiwari who describes himself as a preacher of Sanatan Dharma, has lodged the complaint at Mumbai’s Sakinaka police station through Mumbai High Court Advocates – Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra.

As per the complaint, Sanjay has stated that Adipurush has been made on the biography of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram from the Hindu religion holy book Ramcharitmanas. He alleged that the new poster of Adipurush shows Lord Ram in a costume contrary to the natural spirit and nature of Ramcharitmanas mentioned in the Hindu scripture.
According to a report in India Today, the complainant also claims that all the characters of Ramayana aren’t wearing Janeu which holds a special importance in Hindu Sanatani Dharma. An FIR has been registered under Section 295 (A), 298, 500, 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

A few days ago, the makers of Adipurush unveiled a new poster of the cast on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, a festival celebrated to mark Lord Ram’s birth anniversary. In the poster, Prabhas and Sunny are seen carrying a bow and an arrow donning armour and dhoti. Kriti is in a simple sari with her head covered, while Devdatta is seen bowing down in the service of the trio.

Last year, the teaser of Adipurush got mired into controversy over the depiction of Hindu deities and inferior quality of visual effects. People slammed the makers for the apparent Islamisation of Lankesh over Saif’s look as the demon king, who was seen sporting a beard and buzz cut.

The film is slated to hit the screens on June 16, 2023.
