AIBA welcomes ban on PFI; calls it ‘surgical strike’ | India News – Times of India

CHENNAI: The All India Bar Association (AIBA), which on September 23 called upon the government of India to ban the Popular Front of India (PFI), has welcomed the ban issued by a central gazette on Wednesday.
The government has also banned PFI’s affiliates and frontal organisations such as Rehab India Foundation (RIF), Campus Front of India (CFI), All India Imams Council (AIIC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organization (NCHRO), National Women’s Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation and Rehab Foundation, Kerala.
Senior Advocate Adish C Aggarwala, the chairman of AIBA, issued a statement welcoming the proscription and congratulating the GoI and the union home minister calling it a “timely action”.
It is a surgical strike to ensure national integration and unity, Aggarwala said in the statement.
He wanted the entire PFI network to be disbanded and uprooted, and reiterated his September 23 demand that the government of India should form a special court to try PFI leaders and cadres arrested for their involvement in terrorist and disruptive activities.
