android: Google fixes Android Auto bug that prevents message notifications – Times of India

Android users running Android 12 operating system on their smartphones have reported several bugs related to Android Auto including the Google Maps navigation crashing issue. Recently, a new bug has surfaced online where users reported that the Android Auto does not show new message notifications on the head unit.
Google has confirmed that the issue with the message notification on Android Auto has been fixed. A Google representative has confirmed that they’ve ‘implemented a fix to resolve this issue’.
For those unaware, back in November last year, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra users running OneUI 4.0 based on Android 12 started reporting this issue with Android Auto. The regular Galaxy S21 users also reported the same issue on the official Android Auto support forum.
As a part of the issue, users were unable to see new message notifications while using Android Auto. They’ve reported that Android Auto stopped showing notification sounds or popup notifications on the head unit while music is playing.
While Google has confirmed that they’ve fixed the issue, they haven’t revealed what caused these issues.
Those who are facing this issue will need to update their Android Auto app and messaging app to the latest version.
