Anurag Kashyap REACTS to Ranveer Singh’s remark on being ‘unceremoniously dropped’ from ‘Bombay Velvet’ – Times of India

Ranveer Singh had talked about how he was ‘unceremoniously dropped’ from ‘Bombay Velvet’ on the first episode of ‘Koffee With Karan 7’. Anurag Kashyap has now reacted to the same.

Talking about the film, the filmmaker told a news portal that his films don’t go as wrong as his choices of the budget go. According to him, ‘Bombay velvet’ should have been made at the budget it was intended at. However, the director admitted that it didn’t happen and he takes full responsibility for that because he feels he didn’t fight for that enough.

Elaborating further, Kashyap added that after a long time Ranveer revealed that he was also offered the movie and that he was dropped from the project because he would not be able to generate enough money. According to Anurag, he is making movies with the very same people from the industry. So it’s not like that.

The filmmaker added that the consequences are his and that’s why he went to make films on a controlled budget where no one loses money. He didn’t want to make a blockbuster and he is not competing with anyone. The idea should be big and the film should be made on a controlled budget. The film becoming big is not in your hands, Kashyap told Pinkvilla.

‘Bombay Velvet’ starred Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, and Vicky Kaushal among others. It received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics alike and was a dud at the box office.
