Apple admits this ‘issue’ with Studio Display, tells users a temporary fix – Times of India

Apple has admitted that there could be audio-related issues with the Studio Display, as per a report by MacRumors, based on a memo by the tech giant to authorised service providers. According to the report, the Studio Display’s audio issues could include “sound unexpectedly and abruptly cutting out, audio playing at a high speed, distorted audio quality, and choppy playback.”
According to the tech giant, the speaker issue is not being caused due to faulty hardware and that it could be rectified with a future iOS update.
For now, Apple is ready with a temporary fix for the speaker problem. Apple reportedly said that Studio Display owners who are facing this issue should “unplug the Studio Display from power, unplug any accessories or devices connected to the display, wait ten seconds, then reconnect the Studio Display to power.”
As per the report, the issue seems to be “relatively widespread” affecting hundreds of customers.
An issue such as this should not have happened especially after Apple claimed that the Studio Display is the “highest‑fidelity speaker system ever created for Mac.” The Studio Display comes with a total of six speakers out of which four are “force-cancelling woofers” claimed by the tech giant to “produce bold, articulate bass and minimise distortion” and two are “high-performance tweeters” that should help in delivering “accurate mids and crisp highs”. Also, the device supports Spatial Audio. Apple also claimed that users will get a “sophisticated, cinematic soundstage” when they are playing music or video with Dolby Atmos.
If this is a software issue (which Studio Display users should feel slightly relieved to know), let’s hope it gets ironed out with the fix Apple will eventually roll out. However, there is no timeline for that fix. For now, try unplugging the device as per instructions if your Studio Display has been hit hard with the audio-related problems.
