What iOS 16.4.1 brings
The latest iOS update fixes two security bugs that were flagged by researchers at Google’s Threat Analysis Group.
The first one was in IOSurface Accelerator. Apple said that because of the vulnerability, “an app may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.
The second was in Apple’s Webkit about which Apple said that this may have been actively exploited by bad actors. It could lead to the About its impact, Apple said that “processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution.”
iOS 16.4.1 is available for iPhone 8 and later models. Also, Apple has rolled out an update for iPad, which addresses the same security vulnerabilities.
How to update the latest version of iOS
To update your iOS device to the latest version, follow these steps:
- Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network and ensure it has at least 50% battery or is plugged in.
- Open the Settings app and select General.
- Select Software Update.
- If an update is available, select Download and Install.
- Agree to the terms and conditions.
- Wait for the update to download and install.
- Restart your device if prompted.
