apple: Apple wants all its apps to be developed with Xcode 13 starting April 25 – Times of India

Apple has a new message for app developers. The Cupertino-based tech giant wants all apps developed for its platforms to be built with Xcode 13, which is the latest version of the company’s development kit. Apple has also notified the developers with an update that mentions apps need to be built using Xcode 13 starting April 25, if they want to submit the same on the App Store.
The company wrote in the update, “Make the most of the exciting features in iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and watchOS 8 to offer even more intuitive and valuable user experiences. Improve your app’s performance by refactoring your code to take advantage of asynchronous functions in Swift. And with the latest updates to SwiftUI, you can enhance your apps with new features, such as improved list views, better search experiences, and support for control focus areas.”
Although developers need to build their apps on Xcode 13, the newest version of the software development kit (SDK) but it will also support older Apple software which includes — iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and macOS Big Sur.
The company is currently using Xcode version 13.3 which was released along with iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.5, and other updates on March 14. The older version of Xcode, version 13.2, which was released in December 2021 caused some problems for app developers before Apple fixed it.
