Apple MagSafe Duo charger coming soon to India; But here’s something you must know – Times of India

Apple has already listed the MagSafe Duo wireless charger on its online store and it will be soon available in India. The MagSafe Duo Charger helps you wirelessly charge your iPhone, Apple watch Wireless Charging Case for AirPods, and other Qi-certified devices. You can charge two devices together and offer convenience. Priced at Rs 13,900, the device folds making it portable.
But before you get all hyped up to buy one, there’s something you should know. The MagSafe Duo charger can offer a maximum output of 11W even with Apple’s own 20W USB-C adapter. Note that you will have to purchase this 20W USB-C adapter separately. If you use any other adapter then the charging can be as slow as at 6W. Reports claim that the maximum charging speedo can expect is 14W by using a 27W adapter.
While the new MagSafe chargers may sound attractive, it may not be a good choice for fast charging, depending on the money you want to spend. For example, if you are buying the new iPhone 12 Mini then you may want to skip Apple’s new MagSafe wireless charger which offers wireless charging speeds of up to 15W. This is because the charging speed on the iPhone 12 mini is limited to just 12W. So, even if you buy Apple’s 20W power adapter to use the MagSafe charger at full capacity of 15W, you will only get up to 12W wireless charging speeds on the iPhone 12 mini.
Meanwhile, if you buy the iPhone 12 and above models, you will have to spend Rs 11,300 for the entire MagSafe experience– Rs 4,500 for the MagSafe charger + Rs 4,900 for a MagSafe compatible case from Apple + Rs 1,900 for the 20W USB-C power adapter. This is because if you want to get the fastest wireless charging speed, which is 15W, then you will have to spend another Rs 1,900 for the 20W USB-C power adapter from Apple. And considering that you want to protect your new iPhone 12 with a case, it would be important to note that only MagSafe compatible cases will allow a charger with the MagSafe charger. The other workaround is to take out your iPhone 12 from the case to charge every time.
