Apple Watch users complain about a charging bug after the watchOS 8.3 update – Times of India

Some Apple Watch users have complained about a charging bug as they updated their device to watchOS 8.3. The users reported that their watches were unable to charge properly on third-party chargers, reports AppleInsider. Apple recently rolled out the watchOS 8.3 to the public which was focused on boosting the overall performance and bug fixes, but this new update seems to have introduced a new bug altogether.
As per AppleInsider reports, Apple Watch owners have reported that the wearable does not charge properly when it is connected to a third-party charger. Several users have also noticed that the Apple Watch charges 2% before it stops to charge entirely. Others have even reported about battery drain whenever their Apple Watch is connected to a third-party charger.
At first, several users suspected that this issue was specific to the Apple Watch Series 7, but that no longer seems to be true as older models were also affected with this bug.
One of the users has reported, “My Series 5 watch will no longer charge with my generic amazon.com seller charger stand, but will charge fine with the genuine apple charger cable. This happened overnight after the update to 8.3 was applied.” More users have complained about this issue on Reddit as they reported it on r/AppleWatch, the report adds.
Another user has noted that after installing the update, their watch got charged only 2% when it was kept connected on a third-party charger overnight. However, when it was placed on the official charger, the Apple Watch charged normally. Some other users have also reported a similar issue.
MacRumors reports that most of the reports are about cheap, third-party chargers that are available on Amazon, while the chargers from other brands had fewer reports.
Apple has not yet addressed this problem publicly and there are no known fixes available right now. It is recommended that Apple Watch owners should use the charger issued by Apple if possible .
