Asha Parekh on winning Dadasaheb Phalke Award: It feels as if all my desires are now fulfilled – Times of India

Veteran actress Asha Parekh was conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award at the 68th National Film Awards 2020. She received the honour from President of India Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony which was hosted at the Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi on September 30.

Asha Parekh received the award just days before her 80
th birthday, which falls on October 2. Post the award, an elated Asha Parekh told ANI, “The time when this award has come… it feels great. It feels as if all my desires are now fulfilled. Initially when they (the government) told me I will be receiving this award, I could not believe that I am getting this award. Today, it feels that I have actually received it.” She further added in Gujarati, “I want to thank you all for this award. Please continue supporting me this way.” Asha Parekh is best known for her performace in hits like ‘Dil Deke Dekho’, ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Teesri Manzil’ and ‘Caravan’ to name a few.

Ajay Devgn also received a National Award in the Best Actor category for ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’. He shared the honor with South star Suriya, who won it for ‘Soorarai Pottru’. Penning a note of gratitude after the huge win, Ajay shared, “Not counting the wins or the blessings, just feeling grateful for all of it. Most importantly, your love. I share this win with all of you. Honoured to receive my awards from the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.”
