Border dispute: Mizoram CM directs police to withdraw FIR against all Assam officials | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga on Monday directed state police to withdraw FIR against all the officials of Assam over violence that erupted at the Assam-Mizoram border last week.
“In order to build a conducive atmosphere for amicable solution to the Mizoram-Assam border dispute and to reduce the plight of suffering citizens,I have directed Mizoram police to withdraw FIR dated July 26 filed at Vairengte, Kolasib District against all the accused persons,” Mizoram CM said on Twitter.
The Mizoram police had lodged the FIR against Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other Assam officials under various charges, including those related to attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy, at Vairengte police station on the night of July 26 after the gunfight between the police of the two states.
The clash had claimed the lives of seven persons, including six Assam Police personnel and left over 50 others, the Cachar superintendent of police among them, injured.
The Assam chief minister had also said that the state government will go to Supreme Court soon to resolve border dispute with Mizoram.
