Soon after releasing the Chrome 101 update, Google dropped the complete changelog for the Chrome 102 update. The latest update for the browser comes with a host of new features and changes, however, most of them are aimed at developers. Despite that, the update includes several features to make the usages experience better for end-users. Here’s a list.
Chrome for Android is getting a new Adaptive button
Chrome 102 update brings a new Adaptive button that can automatically transform itself
into different buttons depending upon the user’s habit. This is still an experimental feature and has already started to show to some users on Chrome 101, the latest update is expanding it to more users. The button can be used as a new tab, voice search, share and more. Also, the button can also be customised by long-pressing on it.
The button can also be turned on manually by heading to → chrome://flags/#adaptive-button-in-top-toolbar-customization flag
Keyboard shortcut for tab reorder
Google has finally added a new keyboard shortcut for rearranging tabs in Chrome. The feature has been there in the Linux version of the web browser and it is finally rolling out to Windows and macOS versions with the latest update. The new shortcut allows users to move tabs using the keyboard. Users can now press and hold Ctrl + Shift+fn+ up and down arrow (page up or down buttons)
Online store rating on Android
Google is also experimenting with a new feature that will show store ratings from Google review right on the webpage. This will also include store information and other details to help users find whether the store is authentic or not.
Open files for web apps on desktop
Chrome 102 is finally giving web apps the ability to open some files from desktops. This includes photo editing web apps, photoshop files and more.
In addition to all these features, the Chrome 102 also brings new and more powerful search functionality, ability to control Slides from the view conferencing screen and more
