Domestic air traffic rises 10% in a month – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Indian airlines carried over 1. 1 crore passengers in October, 10% more than the number of people flown in September. Data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday showed that domestic air traffic jumped nearly 27% to 114 lakh last month as compared to 89. 85 lakh a year ago.
In September, the air traffic number stood at nearly 104 lakh. Air traffic has been picking up in recent months after the airline industry was significantly impacted by the pandemic.
IndiGo’s market share declined to 56. 7% in October compared to the previous month when it stood at 58%. The market share of Vistara also fell to 9. 2% last month from 9. 6% in September. Akasa Air, which started operations in August, had a market share of 1. 4% in October as compared to 0. 9% in September. “Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-October were 9. 9 crore as against 6. 2 crore last year, thereby registering an annual growth of 59% and monthly growth of 27%,” DGCA said.
