Silicon Valley has got yet another CEO of Indian origin. Jack Dorsey resigned as the CEO of Twitter and will be replaced by Twitter CTO Parag Agrawal. Agrawal, who is an IIT-Bombay graduate has been working with Twitter for the last 10 years. After the likes of Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella and Shantanu Narayan, Agrawal the joins the illustrious list of CEOs heading some of the biggest tech companies. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has quipped on the announcement and in a reply to a tweet on how Indians are scripting their success stories.
Musk in a reply to a tweet said that “USA benefits greatly from Indian talent.” The Tesla CEO has a fair point, especially when it comes to big tech companies.
Pichai has been CEO of Google and Alphabet for a while where under the aegis of Nadella, Microsoft has become a $2 trillion company. And then there are others like Narayen of Adobe. Narayen has been the CEO of adobe for almost 14 years now. IBM has Arvind Krishna at the helm of affairs since 2020.
Meanwhile, Agrawal in an email to Twitter employees spoke about how Twitter’s purpose “has never been more important.” He said that “Our people and our culture are unlike anything in the world. There is no limit to what we can do together,”.
He also thanked Dorsey. “Thank you, Jack. I’m honored and humbled. And I’m grateful for your continued mentorship and your friendship. I’m grateful for the service that you built, the culture, soul, and purpose you fostered among us, and for leading the company through really significant challenges. I’m grateful for the trust you’ve put in me and for your continued partnership.”
