Ex-WhatsApp executive to rejoin Paytm board – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Former global business head of WhatsApp, Neeraj Arora, is set to rejoin Paytm’s board ahead of the Noida-headquartered fintech company’s initial public offering.
Arora, who was a member of Paytm’s board of directors from 2015 to 2018, is regarded as one of the brains behind structuring the $19-billion deal between social media giant Facebook and messaging service platform WhatsApp.
Before WhatsApp, Arora also led acquisitions and strategic investments at Google.
He stepped down from the board in 2018, allegedly over Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma’s criticism of WhatsApp’s UPI payments model on Twitter.
A Paytm spokesperson did not comment on the matter.
This development comes in the wake of all Chinese nationals representing Ant Group, which holds around 30% stake in the company, stepping down from the board.
