Fixing issues, 1 lakh I-T returns filed on site, says Infosys – Times of India

BENGALURU: Infosys said it fixed many technical glitches in the income tax (IT) e-filing portal over the last week and close to one lakh returns have already been filed. The remaining, it said, will be fixed over the coming weeks.
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman is supposed to meet the company on June 22 to discuss the issues plaguing the portal.
“Over the last week several of the technology glitches that impacted the performance and stability of the portal have been addressed and as a result we have observed lakhs of daily unique users in the portal,” chief operating officer U B Pravin Rao said at the company’s AGM on Saturday.
The upgraded portal, which went live on June 7, suffered glitches, leading to an uproar from many users who complained on Twitter tagging the FM. Sitharaman responded by asking Infosys to fix the problem, and tagged chairman Nandan Nilekani.
Infosys won the project, worth Rs 4,232 crore, to develop the I-T filing portal in 2019.
“As new functions are introduced in this complex platform, we have observed concerns related to filing forms, eproceedings, among other areas. Our project team is working to resolve this to ensure a seamless experience for the users,” Rao said, adding the company was working with all stakeholders over the next few weeks to ensure all inputs and feedback are addressed.
The project is meant to develop a next-generation income tax filing system to reduce processing time for returns from 63 days to one day and also speed up refunds.
