Google is introducing a new, integrated view for Gmail on the web. Announcing the change via a blog post, the company said that the new view will make it easy to move between critical applications like Gmail, Chat and Meet in one unified location.
When enabled, the new navigation menu will allow users to easily switch between inbox, important conversations, and join meetings without having to switch between tabs or open a new window. It adds a new left sidebar with pill-shaped icons for Mail, Chat, Spaces, and Meet. When working in Chat and Spaces, users will be able to view a full list of conversations and Spaces within a single screen, making it easier to navigate to and engage. When in the inbox, users will be able to view the full array of Mail and Label options that are currently available in Gmail.
The new design also brings notification bubbles that make it easy to stay on top of what immediately needs your attention.

Google has also shared a timeline of the rollout of the new integrated view. It says that starting February 8, 2022, users will get an opt-in to test the new experience, allowing them to try it out and become more accustomed to it. By April 2022, users who have not opted-in will start seeing the new experience by default. In case they wish to revert to classic Gmail, they can do so via settings.
By the end of the second quarter of 2022, the new Gmail view will become the standard experience and users will have no option to revert back. Also, users will also start seeing the new streamlined navigation experience on Chat web.
