Google didn’t stop just at the tweet as the picture had some more potshots at Apple. The two widgets in the picture posted in the tweet by Google are in the form of a calendar notification. One notification reads, “Realise we’ve had widgets 4ever,” whereas the other one simply reads, “Tell world” on the screen of the Pixel 4a.
Home screen widgets have been around on Android for quite some time now. In fact, you will have to go back to Android Cupcake — one of the earliest versions — to find that Google introduced Widgets so long ago. So yes, Google does have a fair point in making this dig at Apple.
Not that Apple has shied in the past from taking digs at Google. One point where Apple is always taking indirect digs at Google — and Facebook — is privacy and how it keeps user data safe than other companies. Speaking of privacy, with iOS 14, Apple has upped the ante with several new features that will keep third-party websites from tracking user data.
