BHUBANESWAR: Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou) is offering a 6-day professional development programme on ‘National Education Policy (NEP) 2020′ for college and university teachers. The online programme involves learning through e-content, e-tutorial, discussion forums, live conferencing, assessment and certification.
This programme can be completed within a maximum duration of nine days. Registration for the online programme has been started. Teachers of higher educational institutions can visit the Samarth Portal and register themselves for the programme, said the Ignou sources.
“Around 15 lakh teachers from universities and colleges need to be oriented on various recommendations of the NEP. In this respect, the ministry of education had entrusted the responsibility of orienting the higher education teachers on the implementation of the NEP to the university grants commission (UGC) and the Ignou,” read the letter of Ignou to vice-chancellors of the universities.
The programme has 14 units of e-content, e-tutorial of 30 high-quality video lessons by eminent scholars and a discussion forum and lives conferencing at the Swayam platform (the government’s massive open online course platform). For assessment, Ignou will conduct a formative online test (30 per cent) and a summative online test (70 per cent) on the Swayam platform.
A candidate will get digital certification on successful completion with a 50 per cent score.
Ignou regional centre here has requested the vice-chancellors of the universities in the state to issue notification and encourage all teachers to register for the week-long online programme. This programme will be conducted in various batches. Registration started on August 15.
