The Muslim community observed Muharram on August 9 across India. During the Muharram procession in Indore, a fight broke out between two groups of Muslims during which they attacked each other with lathis. One person died in the brawl, while several others were injured. Muharram is observed to mark the sacrifice of Imam Hussein and his family.
