Instagram expands ‘Notes’ feature to Europe, Japan – Times of India

Meta-owned Instagram rolled out a Notes feature to make it easier for users to connect with each other and explore shared interests. Now, the multimedia-sharing platform has expanded its Notes feature to Europe and Japan.
The announcement was made by Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, who took to Twitter, stating “Notes are now available in Europe and Japan.”
In a video, Mosseri addressed that many users “complained about not having access yet to the feature.”

“Sometimes when we launch a new feature, we launch it only to a small percentage of people, or just to a specific country,” he explained.
“And sometimes, in the case of Notes, we launch something everywhere we can but have to hold back in a few countries if there’s more work to do.”
Mosseri also said that the feature “has done really well” in Asia, North America and Latin America and “specifically with teens.”

Instagram introduced the Notes feature last month. These are short posts of up to 60 characters using just text and emojis. To leave a note, go to the top of your inbox, select the followers you follow back or people on your Close Friends list, and your note will appear at the top of their inbox for 24 hours. Replies to notes will arrive as DMs in your inbox.
“Notes give people a casual and spontaneous way to express themselves and connect with each other,” mentions Instagram.
How do Notes appear on Instagram?
Notes feature appears on the DM section of Instagram where users can add and view the status of whom they follow. In order to add a Note to your profile, head to the Instagram app > tap DM section > tap on your profile > and tap the plus (+) icon to leave a note.
