IPL 2021: KKR bowlers hold the key against Delhi Capitals | Cricket News – Times of India

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are a team transformed in this second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Languishing at second-last position at the start of this UAE leg, the team has roared into the top four within a week of the restart.

Although their winning run was halted by table-toppers Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, they still look good enough to make the playoffs. However, with a clutch of other sides in contention, KKR skipper Eoin Morgan knows they cannot afford to make mistakes.
They will have to put their best foot forward against high-flying Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday. Sitting pretty at second position with 16 points, DC can go full throttle as another win will all but ensure them a top-two finish on the league table.

It can well turn out to be a battle of bowlers when the two sides step on a new venue for them this season — the Sharjah Cricket Stadium — for the afternoon match.
While DC skipper Rishabh Pant had rightly termed the side’s bowling unit as “if not the best, it is one of the best,” his counterpart Morgan hailed his bowlers as “superstars” of the team.
The KKR bowlers have bundled out Royal Challengers Bangalore for a meagre 92 in their first game after resumption and restricted Mumbai Indian to 155 in the second. Although CSK managed to get 172 runs to win the last match, KKR were very much on victory course till the penultimate over by Prasidh Krishna, off which Ravindra Jadeja plundered 22 runs to take the game away.
It will not be surprising if the team management opt for Shivam Mavi or Kamlesh Nagarkoti in place of Krishna on Tuesday. The bigger worry for KKR, however, will be Andre Russell’s injury. The West Indian walked away in the 17th over of CSK’s innings after making an athletic save at the mid-wicket boundary.
The team is keeping fingers crossed after mentor David Hussey said on Sunday, “Hopefully, nothing too serious with him (Russell) because he is a key player.
