Filmmaker-actor Mahesh Manjrekar is in no mood to slow down on work. After recuperating from cancer, he’s gearing up to make a string of films in Hindi and Marathi. Mahesh, who has directed the Hindi remake of Mulshi Pattern (Marathi, 2018), Antim: The Final Truth, has discussed not one but two films with his actor-producer buddy, Salman Khan. While one of the films is an offbeat comedy the other is a violent and challenging love story.
Talking about his forthcoming ventures, Mahesh says, “Even before taking up Antim: The Final Truth, I had narrated a film to Salman, which was a comedy. It was unconventional and he laughed a lot throughout our story session. But that film was set aside when Antim fell into my lap. Now, I’ve given another exceptional script to Salman. It’s a violent love story in which 90 percent of the characters are blind. I would love to do that film with him. If someone really gets ambitious and decides to back it, I would love to make it soon.”
Salman Khan and Mahesh Manjrekar have worked together as co-actors in a string of films like Wanted: Dead or Alive, Ready, Bodyguard, Dabangg 3 and Jai Ho to name a few. Mahesh’s daughter Saiee Manjrekar was also launched by Salman in Dabangg 3. As friends, Mahesh and Salman decided to team up on Antim: The Final Truth during the lockdown, when they were spending time at the latter’s farmhouse on the outskirts of Mumbai.
