Kangana Ranaut’s passport renewal to be expedited after necessary corrections – Times of India

Kangana Ranaut has got some relief in the matter pertaining to her passport renewal. The Regional Passport Office (RPO) informed the Bombay High Court on Monday that after the actress makes the necessary changes in her application, the process of renewal will be expedited.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Anil Singh stated that Kangana’s application had factual inconsistencies. It stated that she had criminal cases pending against her, whereas an FIR has been registered against her and the criminal proceedings are yet to begin. He told the HC that if Kangana Ranaut made the corrections in her application, the passport office would consider her plea and take ahead the procedure.

Writer Ashish Kaul has filed a copyright infringement case against Kangana Ranaut for the film ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda’ and his lawyers stated that Kangana’s passport renewal was refused due to their case. Kaul’s lawyers Yogita Joshi and Amani Khan had told ETimes, “Kangana Ranaut has filed for passport issuance and pleads that her passport is refused by authorities in view of the case by our client Ashish Kaul and another case both at the Bandra Magistrate Court. We have waived off notice and will be filing a detailed and comprehensive reply vehemently opposing any relief since she is yet to appear before the Police for a statement in this case and therefore investigation has been slow.”

Kangana Ranaut is scheduled to travel Budapest this month for the shoot of her film ‘Dhaakad’, for which she needed her passport to be renewed. ‘Dhaakad’ is an action entertainer directed by Razneesh Ghai. Apart from this, Kangana will also be seen in Jayalalithaa’s biopic – ‘Thalaivi’, which is scheduled for release later this year. Kangana will essay the role of an Air Force officer in action film ‘Tejas’ and will step into the shoes of late Indira Gandhi for ‘Emergency’.
