Lakshya Sen upbeat about training stint with Viktor Axelsen | Badminton News – Times of India

BENGALURU: World No. 9 shuttler Lakshya Sen, who will spend a week training with world No. 1 Viktor Axelsen in Dubai, will hope to get some good practice ahead of the tournaments in Indonesia and Malaysia.
This will be the second time that Lakshya will be part of the training programme conducted by the 28-year-old Dane in the United Arab Emirates. Apart from Lakshya, Lee Cheuk Yiu from Hong Kong, Cheam June Wei of Malaysia and Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew too are taking part in the training (May 29-June 5).
“This is a good chance for me to have some game practice. Together with some of the best in the business, I can have some high-intensity training and hopefully that would help me to perform well at the upcoming tournaments,” Lakshya told TOI.
Lakshya will be taking part in the Indonesia Masters (June 7-12), Indonesia Open (June 14-19) and the Malaysia Open (June 28-July 3) ahead of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games starting on July 28.
Lakshya added that he and Axelsen would also train for a week in Malaysia at their National training centre in Kuala Lumpur ahead of the Malaysia Open.
“After the two tournaments in Indonesia, there is not much time for the next event in Malaysia. So, we thought it would be better to fly directly to Kuala Lumpur instead of returning to our respective countries and then travelling and coping with the situation. We requested permission to train there, and the authorities have approved it,” he added.
