Mahesh Manjrekar reacts to the case registered under POCSO act against him, says my lawyers shall respond – Times of India

Mahesh Manjrekar has been caught in a legal trouble over the objectionable scenes with minor children in his recently released Marathi film ‘Varan Bhat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha’.

He has reportedly been booked under IPC Section 292, 34, POCSO Section 14 and IT Section 67, 67B.

When we contacted him, he said, “They have taken a legal route so my lawyers will respond accordingly. I stand by my film. It has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) so what more can I say?”

When the film’s trailer was released, National Commission For Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma had written a letter to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In the letter, the NCW chief called for a check on the ‘open circulation of sexually explicit content involving minors on social media platforms’, citing that the trailer of the Mahesh Manjrekar film shows sexually explicit content and depicts women and minors in objectionable ways.

A few days ago, a protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) court had ordered Mumbai cops to probe a complaint filed against actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar and those associated with the Marathi crime-drama.
