Min Hee Jin exposes HYBE’s alleged ban on NewJeans promotion; Reveals NewJeans members’ emotional struggle – Times of India

ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin‘s recent press conference on April 25, 2024, shed light on the feud between her company and HYBE, where she addressed the accusations leveled against her and the impact on her flagship group, NewJeans. Hee Jin revealed the backstory behind ADOR’s creation, tracing it back to her departure from Source Music. She recounted how she was initially poised to lead HYBE‘s first girl group project under Source Music but was blindsided when the company diverted its focus to now LE SSERAFIM members Chaewon and Sakura, delaying NewJeans‘ debut.
The most damning revelation came when Min Hee Jin accused HYBE’s CEO, Park Ji Won, of actively stifling NewJeans’ promotion to elevate LE SSERAFIM. She claimed, “Park Ji Won asked me not to promote NewJeans until LE SSERAFIM makes their debut. I asked why, and he said that we needed to make the public think that LE SSERAFIM is Min Hee Jin’s girl group. That we needed the public to be confused between the two. Do you think this makes sense? Why are they such thugs? I already took the girls in. I can’t give up on their debut. So what should I have done? Fight back? I just thought to myself, okay, fine, even if you guys try to create disturbances for me, I just have to do well with what I can. So I received a few boycotts. To stop me from promoting NewJeans”, as quoted by Koreaboo.
Min Hee Jin’s account highlighted the stark contrast in promotion strategies, as NewJeans debuted abruptly without the customary teasers and media buildup, a stark departure from industry norms. She attributed this unusual approach to Park Ji Won’s purported directive, leaving NewJeans to make their entrance with little fanfare.
Amidst the escalating feud, concerns mounted over the well-being and comeback of NewJeans members, prompting Min Hee Jin to address their emotional struggles during the press conference. Min Hee Jin shared the emotional toll the situation has taken on the group, revealing their struggles. “The members are having a hard time. We are close enough to comfort each other, and they always text me that they love me daily”, she disclosed.
The CEO didn’t shy away from disclosing into the specific reactions of individual members. Despite typically being reserved, Haerin reached out to Min Hee Jin via video call, struggling to articulate her feelings. “Hanni kept saying she wanted to come to where I am, and Haerin, who is usually quiet, even video-called me. She was going to text, but she called me to hear my voice because she couldn’t get the words out. This made me wonder if this is how it feels to raise a child”, Min Hee Jin shared.
Describing Hyein, the group’s youngest member, Min Hee Jin portrayed her as deeply affected by the situation. “Hyein cried for 20 minutes on the phone. She cried because I helped her when she had a hard time, but she could do nothing to help me. She even said she would turn on the Phoning app and explain the situation”, she recounted.
