Narendra Modi: PM Modi inaugurates first phase of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Key highlights | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the first phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The Prime Minister pressed the button of a remote to mark the opening of the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section, besides laying foundation stone of road projects worth more than Rs 18,100 crore.

Here are the key highlights
*The 246 km long Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi Mumbai Expressway has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 12,150 crore.
*Opening of this section will reduce the travel time from Delhi to Jaipur from 5 hours to around 3.5 hours and provide a major boost to the economic development of the entire region.
*The Prime Minister said it is one of the largest and most modern expressways. “It presents the developed face of India,” he said.
*Delhi Mumbai Expressway will be India’s longest expressway with a length of 1,386 km. It will reduce the travel distance between Delhi and Mumbai by 12 per cent from 1,424 km to 1,242 Km and travel time will be reduced by 50 per cent from 24 hours to 12 hours.
*It will pass through six states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra and connect major cities like Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara and Surat.
*The expressway will also serve 93 PM Gati Shakti Economic Nodes, 13 ports, 8 major airports and 8 multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs) along with spurs to new upcoming greenfield airports such as Jewar Airport, Navi Mumbai Airport and JNPT port.
*The expressway will have a catalytic impact in the developmental trajectory of all adjoining regions, thus contributing in a major way in the economic transformation of the country
*PM Modi, in his address in Rajasthan’s Dausa, said: “When such modern roads, railway stations, metro, and airports are built, the country’s progress gains momentum.”
*”For the last nine years, the central government is continuously making huge investments in infrastructure. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor are going to become two strong pillars of progress for Rajasthan and the country,” PM Modi said.
*”‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ is our mantra for nation, we are making ‘Samarth Bharat’ while following it,” PM Modi also said.
*Earlier in the day, Union minister Nitin Gadkari inspected the control room of the expressway in Sohna, Haryana. State-of-the-art technology has been used in the control room for the safety of passengers and to help them in case of emergency.
*Gadkari said that the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai will reduce to barely 12 hours after the entire expressway is completed.
*Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari, Union MoS VK Singh, Union minister Gajendra Singh and other leaders were present on the stage at the function.
*Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal khattar addressed the programme through a video link. While Gehlot joined from the chief minister’s residence in Jaipur, Khattar addressed the programme from a function held in Nuh district.
*PM Modi on Sunday also laid foundation stone of four-lane Bandikui Expressway, six-lane Kotputli Alwar Delhi Mumbai Interchange and two-lane Paved Shoulder Lalsot Karoli Project in Dausa.
*”Prime Minister’s emphasis on the building of excellent road infrastructure as an engine of growth, development and connectivity in New India, is being realised by the construction of a number of ongoing world-class Expressways across the country,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said earlier in a statement. “Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is one such project and its first completed section…,” it said.
