Raj and DK reveal details about Samantha’s role in Citadel with Varun Dhawan – Times of India

As fans get ready to feast their eyes on the first trailer of the Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden starrer Citadel, director-duo Raj and DK have been busy working on the Indian instalment of the global spy thriller.
The Indian version of the series will feature Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles as they interconnect the Indian plot with others from around the globe. In a recent interview, the directors opened up about the role Samantha will play in the upcoming series and hinted that it might just be her toughest role yet.

In conversation with Film Companion, Raj and DK revealed that Sam and Varun have very strong ‘author-backed roles’. For the leading lady, the directors said that they plan to ‘use Samantha’s abilities’ and challenge her to open up different aspects as a performer.

According to reports, Samantha will have a role that is said to be high on action. She will be joined by Varun, who will also be seen performing some over-the-top action sequences crafted by action director Yannick Ben.

Going by Sam’s Instagram stories, her time on sets is leaving her with quite a few scars. The actress, who has been performing her own stunts for the series, has been posting photos of the injuries she acquired on the sets, much like Priyanka did while shooting for the international series.

The trailer of the Priyanka-Richard starrer was scheduled to come out on March 1, but it was postponed in light of the tragic events in Greece where a passenger train collided with a freight train, claiming at least 38 lives.

“Out of respect for our international community and due to yesterday’s devastating breaking news from Greece, we are respectfully holding on sharing the official trailer for Citadel,” read the official statement.

The trailer is now scheduled to drop online next week.
