In an interview with ETimes, Rajkummar Rao expressed his initial surprise and confusion upon seeing the circulated images.He recounted the moment when the rumours began, stating, the first time when it started, he looked at that picture and it felt weird, as it was very clear that it was not him. He added that the picture is too flawless to be true and that someone has touched it.
Despite the online chatter, Rajkummar remains resolute in denying any cosmetic procedures, affirming during an interaction with Film Companion, “I know my truth. I know I haven’t done it.” He shared an anecdote where he was told, “‘It’s good, you are a part of meme culture. It means you’re famous. Don’t worry about it.'”Reflecting on how he started getting interview calls as everybody wanted to know about the picture or has he went through the knife, the actor said he gave honest replies to all. He admitted having filler in the chin nine years back, and is not bothered by the speculations that are doing the rounds now. He stated, “Eventually it’s the work people will talk about. That’s the most important thing about me because I’m still the same person. I’m still the same actor and I’m still as hungry as I was 10 years ago. I can totally disconnect. And I’m the kind of person who will always keep my (his) chin up”
When asked about the gender disparities in expectations for physical appearance in the industry, Rajkummar highlighted the shared burden faced by male actors, albeit with nuances. He acknowledged recent experiences where he faced criticism for trivial matters like his choice of footwear, indicating the growing scrutiny faced by actors both on and off-screen.
Amidst these discussions, Rajkummar Rao remains focused on his craft, gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Srikanth’. In the movie, he portrays the role of visually impaired industrialist Srikanth Bolla, offering audiences a glimpse into the remarkable journey of the character.
