Rhea Chakraborty and brother Showik’s judicial custody extended till October 20 – Times of India

Rhea Chakraborty and brother Showik’s judicial custody has been extended till October 20, by the Special NDPS Court. According to Times Now, the judicial custody is extended every 14 days and their custody ended today. Rhea and Showik had approached the High Court for bail and the order is expected to come sometime tomorrow. The High Court has reserved the order, if the court approves bail then Rhea and Showik will be let off.

During the previous custody extension, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had gone to the jail to record Showik’s statement. Rhea Chakrabroty was arrested by the NCB on September 9, in connection to drugs-related probe that emerged from Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. Previously, the NCB had arrested her brother Showik Chakraborty as well as Sushant’s personal staffers Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant.

Several Bollywood celebrities have been campaigning for Rhea’s release. Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha had tweeted today, “That girl has been in Jail for a month. Seriously guys!!!”, replying to the same Swara Bhasker shared, “RELEASE #RHEACHAKRABORTY”.

Previously, Kanika Dhillon had also called for the release of Rhea Chakraborty and posted, “While d conspiracy theories r being mulled over- A young woman is still in Jail #rheachakroborty @Tweet2Rhea CBI has clearly stated no foul play… how long n under what charges can she be kept in jail- And denied bail?? @NCWIndia can anyone give some answers pls?!”
