Abhishek, cousin of Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor, started his career as an actor in 1996 with ‘Aashique Mastane’ opposite Monica Bedi and ‘Uff! Yeh Mohabbat’, opposite Twinkle Khanna. He made his directorial début with ‘Aryan’ in 2006. In 2008, he wrote and directed Rock On!!’ starring Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal. In 2013, he directed ‘Kai Po Che’ based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel, ‘The 3 Mistakes of my Life’. In 2016, he directed and produced ‘Fitoor’, an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ ‘Great Expectations’.
Laxman made his directorial debut in 2013 with Marathi film ‘Tapaal’, followed by ‘Lalbaugchi Rani’ in 2016. His first Hindi film as director was the romantic comedy ‘Luka Chuppi’ (2019) which starred Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon.
A source says, “Kapoor and Utekar have also zeroed down on a few actors. While they have already contacted a few of them, they are going to connect with the rest soon. They are waiting for certain confirmations too from the list of those whom they’ve already connected with.”
