Rohed Khan blames ‘lengthy’ runtime and plot for ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ poor box office performance – Exclusive | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Austrian actor Rohed Khan, who made a noteworthy Bollywood debut in the Kangana Ranaut-starrer ‘Tejas‘, was back again on the big screen in Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff‘s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan‘. The actor, played the vital role of the Head Militant in the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial, which was touted to be a summer hit at the box office.
However, despite the hype and buzz around the film, it managed to make its way past the Rs 60 crore mark.Reflecting on the film’s box office performance, Rohed, in an interview with ETimes, expressed his shock and disappointment.
“The film is very entertaining. I was expecting that it would earn a lot of money,” Khan admitted.
Sharing his views on why the film could have failed to make its mark at the box office, he said, “I feel that it was shot long. And, I think, the audience wants more content-driven movies.”
The film’s failure comes as a huge blow to Rohed, who revealed that he picked the ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ over a role in the K-drama series ‘Squid Game Season 2’. Spilling the beans about choosing the Bollywood film over the global blockbuster, he shared, “I crossed paths with Ali Abbas Zafar during the filming of ‘Detective Sherdil’ in Budapest. He appreciated my performance and casually mentioned that he was working on a film with two major superstars next year, insisting that he wanted me on board. At the time, I took it as a nice gesture and thanked him before moving on. However, about a month later, I was in the middle of auditioning for ‘Squid Games,’ and things were progressing well.”
Elaborating further, he said, “Then, I received a call from the team of ‘Squid Games.’ It seemed surreal, but indeed, it was the call. I also received a call from Ali Sir’s assistant, urging me to come to Mumbai as Ali Sir had expressed his desire for me to be in his film. I felt a sense of responsibility to honour the promise made by Ali Sir. Despite being scheduled to shoot “Squid Games”. I called him to inquire if I could proceed with the show. He advised against it, but I made the difficult decision to decline ‘Squid Games’.”
“I booked my ticket and flew to Mumbai, where preparations for the movie began immediately,” he said and revealed that he kept his decision about his ‘Squid Games ‘casting to himself.
